Centre for Analysis of Exploitation

Powered by Black Country Women’s Aid, the Centre for Analysis of Exploitation (CeAnEx) works to prevent, disrupt and reduce exploitation.

What is Exploitation?

Exploitation is a type of abuse. It is a serious crime that can encompass coercion, intimidation or enticement, trafficking, cyberbullying and grooming.

Victims can be exploited sexually, financially, through radicalisation or being trafficked by a modern slavery network, or made to participate in crimes like transporting illegal drugs.

CeAnEx is a trailblazer in exploitation research:

Our practice-based research identifies exploitation from the ground up.

Our analysis discovers the causes and effects of this diverse, devastating and rapidly-evolving crime.

We use this unique perspective to influence and shape the response to exploitation.

Our research enables us to support victims to become survivors.

Praise for CeAnEx...

“We will continue to seek the support of CeAnEx at Black Country Women’s Aid and see them as a trusted partner in our multi-agency approach to combat exploitation, and protect the exploited.”

“I am extremely supportive that a project that was funded locally to disrupt local crime now has the potential to evolve into an international collaboration which is very much in line with our public health approach to tackling modern slavery and human trafficking.”

Harjeet Chakira

Policy Manager, West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioners

“There is a lack of publicised material in this area but BCWA’s CeAnEx were able to offer us invaluable advice and support in-order that we could develop our intelligence in the correct way.”
